What I do when I should be studying...or not taking part in a Reality Television show
Should we all start praying?

Let me paint a picture.

A small solar system with nought but a sun, its gravitational field and a comet.

A comet has three (four, technically) distinct features - a nucleus, a coma and a tail.

It orbits in wide ellipses around a sun. Sometimes out at the furthest reaches, away from the fiery centre, cold and invisible, but always edging closer.

As it nears the sun its pace quickens. The famed sling shot effect of a travelling, celestial body being “flung” by a larger body and its gravitational pull and ultimately its repulsion.

In the JU universe, the sun and its omnipotent pull, its organising principle, is the need to come together and “talk”. The nucleus of the comet would be the politics and current events forums, the coma would be the blogging forum and the tail would be everything else hanging on, trailing behind like cosmic debris. The type of “talk” in the centre is peculiar and dense. It is often confrontational and demanding. It puts its constituents under massive pressure. It is what propels, within the preset orbits of the sun, the comet, what allows it to be, even feeding its tail.

Sometimes the political and blogging juggernaut is in cold space, at others close to the source of its impetus and agitated, moving fast along the arc of pressure and release.

Now what does this have to do with anything?

Essentially, what can you do to stop the predetermined locomotive trajectory of a comet, especially when it nears the perihelion of its orbit?

ABSO-FRIGGIN’-LOUTELY NOTHING

When approaching the politics, current events and blogging forums, please keep this in mind and please keep all limbs within the moving vehicle. Thank you.

Marco I've missed you! Where have you been! Great article as usual. I've just been catching up. There are certain areas of JU I leave alone, due to my lack of interest, and lack of knowledge. If other people enjoy it, good for them, though by some of the arguments...sorry..ahem....debates that go on, I'm guessing some of these threads go round in circles, but hey, what doesn't!

Hey Sally. Like the comet in the article i have been uselessly drifting, study mostly, but usually not even that.

Just like some of these...erm..."debates" eh?

Nice to hear from you Sal.
